Giving Back to the Community: Baker Tilly’s Second Annual Stewardship Day August 2

All Baker Tilly offices and employees will dedicate entire workday to local charities and causes that matter most to them.

CHICAGO (April 5, 2017) – On Wednesday, August 2, 2017, employees at leading accounting and advisory firm Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP (Baker Tilly) will participate in the firm’s second Stewardship Day – an entire workday dedicated to community service, giving and education.

“Stewardship is a core value at Baker Tilly, and our team members believe in being good stewards of our clients, firm and communities,” Chairman and CEO Alan Whitman said. “Stewardship Day brings all of our people together to live that value and to collaborate, serve and make a difference.”

The firm’s inaugural Stewardship Day in 2016 focused on hunger relief. Most firm team members in every office participated in Stewardship Day 2016 by collectively giving thousands of hours of service at food pantries, food banks and other hunger relief organizations.

For Stewardship Day 2017, firm offices will be able to volunteer at a variety of organizations that represent causes close to Baker Tilly team members and their communities. Teams will have the option to spend the workday at organizations including education, health, hunger relief, financial literacy and veterans or youth groups, among others. The chance to choose their commitment is intended to honor the firm’s employees and the spirit of charity they live every day of the year.

“Baker Tilly has offices in many communities and our people continually demonstrate that they believe in and support those communities,” Whitman added. “We are proud and humbled to support deserving local and national causes that inspire and motivate them.”

Stewardship Day is inspired by the firm’s H.E.R.O (Helping Enrich Relationships through Outreach) program, which gives team members paid time off to volunteer with charities and causes they wish to support. In 2016, Baker Tilly team members spent 5,000 hours volunteering as part of the H.E.R.O. program. To learn more about how Baker Tilly makes a difference in the communities it serves, visit
