MINNEAPOLIS (October 21, 2016) – Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP (Baker Tilly) is pleased to announce that Timothy Kosiek, partner in the firm’s financial services practice, was recently recognized by the Minnesota Society of CPAs (MNCPA) for nearly a decade of service to Cristo Rey Jesuit High School.
A life-long advocate for education, Kosiek used his background as an accountant and business professional to help launch the school in 2007. As a full-time volunteer, he helped develop key financial frameworks and relationships and helped establish the school’s unique Corporate Work Study Program. Through the program, the school partners with local businesses to provide students with vital work experience by having students work five full days a month at partnering businesses. In its first nine years in Minneapolis, the school has worked with more than 800 under-resourced young men and women.
Kosiek was also instrumental in starting Baker Tilly’s involvement with the school. Today, Baker Tilly is one of 30 companies nationally to employ students in four or more locations.
“We are very proud of Tim and appreciate his contributions to Cristo Rey,” Minneapolis Office Managing Partner Jeffrey DeYoung said. “Stewardship is one of Baker Tilly’s core values, and Tim is an exceptional role model for living that value.”
In 2008 Kosiek transitioned out of his full-time volunteer role, but remains actively involved on the school’s board of directors and as a day-to-day advocate of the school. He joined Baker Tilly in 2009 and leads the firm’s banking industry niche.
