Jim is a principal in Baker Tilly’s forensic, litigation, and valuation services practice. He also provides risk management, portfolio valuation, and transaction oversight services within Baker Tilly’s financial services industry practice. He is a structured finance professional who has participated in the capital markets for almost 35 years working closely with banks, hedge funds, specialty finance companies, asset managers, secured lenders, insurers, securitization trustees, investors and other stakeholders. As a transaction attorney, trader and investment banker, finance company executive, bond insurer, consultant and expert witness, Jim has gained keen insight into the custom and practice, and expectations and obligations of capital markets participants from a broad perspective.


  • Provides clients with technical and industry expertise to understand and evaluate the relevant issues pertaining to complex commercial litigation and other disputes, including internal discussions in advance of litigation, settlement discussions, potential regulatory investigations or inquiries, and arbitrations and mediations
  • Imparts support throughout all stages of an engagement, from assessment of facts and strategic options, to expert testimony
  • Jim has conducted valuations, investigations and forensic reviews relating to numerous types of commercial and consumer assets, whether secured or unsecured; and service providers to securitizations or other structured transactions, such as servicers, trustees, originators, and lenders
  • Has designed and implemented transaction oversight and risk management services, including benchmarking and evaluating the quality and performance of asset pools and/or securities, performing operational reviews and compliance audits of related parties and service providers, and identifying and remediating potential impediments to expected performance
  • Has furnished leadership and strategic oversight with respect to the remediation, workout, resolution, and/or disposition of assets (including the provision of valuation and asset sale advisory services) in connection with complex structured finance arrangements, including distressed, sub performing, and non-performing assets and securities
