Sohovich brings over 30 years of federal government contract accounting experience to one of the nation’s leading government contractor advisory services practice.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 13, 2015) – Leading accounting and advisory firm Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP (Baker Tilly) welcomes Byron Sohovich, former director of government accounting practices at Battelle Memorial Institute (Battelle), to the firm’s specialized government contractor advisory services practice.
Sohovich brings 29 years of experience from Battelle, a multi-million dollar applied science and technology development company headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. As director of Battelle’s government accounting practices, Sohovich successfully stewarded the organization’s home office and segment CAS disclosure statements, incurred cost submissions, allowable cost reviews, provisional bidding and billing rate agreements, DCAA audits, and compliance with DFARS business systems rules.
As a director at Baker Tilly, Sohovich will continue to partner with government contractors on indirect rate strategy and organization design, business system compliance, and audit support.
“In today’s competitive and complex contracting environment, organizations must stay focused on controlling and managing costs while at the same time, absorbing increasing compliance requirements levied by contracting officers, auditors, and the U.S. Congress,” said Sohovich. “Those who are attentive to the constantly changing landscape will weather the storm.”
Prior to his leadership role at Battelle, Sohovich held financial roles at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and Northrup Grumman. Sohovich is a member of National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) Contracts and Finance Committee and the National Contract Management Association (NCMA).
