Warden’s leadership helps transform CREW DC program for 35-and-under members
TYSONS, VA. (September 29, 2017) – Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP (Baker Tilly) is proud to announce that Senior Manager Liisa Warden will receive the Rising Star Award from the D.C. chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW DC). The award recognizes a CREW DC member age 35 or under who has made noticeable contributions to the organization by being active in events, committees and charities which CREW DC supports and who demonstrates leadership skills.
“This year we had a large, competitive field of nominees in the Rising Star category. Liisa’s accomplishments and commitment to CREW made her a clear winner,” said Barbara Schaefer McDuffie, managing director of business development for Baker Tilly and a former member of the CREW DC board of directors, said. “I am proud of Liisa’s commitment to CREW and the impact she has had within the organization.”
Warden joined CREW DC in 2010. The organization’s monthly luncheons expanded her industry knowledge, while committee participation helped her build relationships in a smaller setting. She quickly found a home on the member services committee, working with peers in the 35 and under subcommittee. Warden became co-chair of the subcommittee in 2015 and helped plan unique events that appealed to younger members. In 2017, she was asked to serve as chair when the group became a full committee.
“CREW offers a comfortable place to network, with a good mix of technical industry events and professional development opportunities,” Warden, who has planned luncheon and roundtable events for CREW DC and served as a panelist on Tax Issues and Planning Opportunities for Real Estate Investors, said. “I’ve enjoyed working with my peer group and establishing relationships with industry veterans. It’s an honor to be recognized by a group that has helped me in so many ways.”
Warden credits CREW DC with the personal and professional development that have made her a rising star at Baker Tilly, where she co-chairs the D.C. office’s Growth and Retention of Women (GROW) program, which promotes inclusion and diversity in the workplace. Using the skills developed with CREW DC, Warden leads the D.C. office efforts to provide programs that significantly enhance the retention, development and advancement of women at Baker Tilly.
