Baker Tilly’s Ed Offterdinger Named to Washington Business Journal Power 100

TYSONS CORNER, Va. – Ed Offterdinger, Executive Managing Partner of Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP (Baker Tilly), one of the top 20 largest accounting and advisory firms in the country*, has been selected by the Washington Business Journal as one of the region’s most influential business leaders.

This year’s Power 100 is the second annual list compiled by the Washington Business Journal, whose criteria included leaders who were “influential, respected and able to get things done.”

Offterdinger’s selection was due in part to his leadership in a recent merger with New York firm Holtz Rubenstein Reminick LLP that expanded Baker Tilly’s East Coast footprint, bolstering the number of professionals to 1,600 and revenues to more than $300 million. In addition to overseeing the firm’s east region, he also chairs the management committee and takes a leadership role in many philanthropic endeavors.

“We are proud of Ed’s recognition as one of the Power 100,” shared Tim Christen, Baker Tilly Chief Executive Officer. “His passionate commitment to the success of our clients and our people embodies our Valued Business Advisor philosophy and has earned him respect on all fronts.”

In addition to Offterdinger, other notable business leaders on this year’s Power 100 list included: Jeff Bezos, owner, Washington Post and founder and CEO, Amazon; Angel Cabrera, President, George Mason University; Marillyn Hewson, CEO and president, Lockheed Martin Corp.; Bobbie Kilberg, President and CEO, Northern Virginia Technology Council; Steve Knapp, President, The George Washington University;  Ted Leonsis, Chairman and CEO, Monumental Sports & Entertainment; Bill Marriott, Chairman, Marriott International Inc.; Catherine Meloy, President and CEO, Goodwill of Greater Washington; Stan Soloway, President, Professional Services Council; and Tony Williams, former Mayor of DC and CEO, Federal City Council.

As to how leaders made the cut for the list, the Washington Business Journal wrote, “When they speak, you listen. If they call, you pick up the phone.” They limited their list to those who are influential in the local business community, omitting elected officials and local bureaucrats, though allowing members of quasi-independent boards and authorities for this year’s list.

Offterdinger and the other honorees were recognized at a reception on November 4, 2013 at the Metropolitan Club and are profiled online at www.washingtonbusinessjournal.com.
