Baker Tilly Partner Donna Massanova Honored by AICPA and PICPA as 2017 Woman to Watch

PHILADELPHIA (May 11, 2017) – Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP (Baker Tilly) today announced that Partner Donna Massanova, CPA, has been selected by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) as a 2017 Women to Watch award recipient.

Massanova, the firm’s employee benefit plan audit practice leader, was recognized for her dedicated mentoring efforts and ability to foster success in others while attaining her own success.

“Mentorship and community stewardship have always been passions of mine and I am fortunate to have the opportunity be involved in many organizations throughout my career that allow me to coach and counsel others,” Massanova said. “I am honored by this recognition and by the support of my colleagues for the nomination.”

Massanova mentors women colleagues through Baker Tilly’s Growth and Retention of Women (GROW) program, accounting students at La Salle University and women and young professionals through her work with the Susan G. Komen Foundation. She also conducts numerous trainings and seminars for developing leaders and frequently speaks at industry conferences. Additionally, Massanova is a member of the PICPA Employee Benefit Plan Committee, the La Salle University Council of Presidents Associates Committee, the La Salle University School of Business Advisory Committee and serves on the board of directors of the Susan G. Komen Philadelphia affiliate.

“Donna’s leadership and commitment to the community make her an extraordinary advisor and team member,” Joe O’Neill, Philadelphia office managing partner, said. “Our entire firm congratulates Donna on this honor and shares our appreciation for her many contributions to the accounting industry and to our local community.”

The Women to Watch Awards program was established in 2013 to highlight the accomplishments of women in the CPA profession. Awards are given in four categories: Experienced Leaders, Emerging Leaders, Community Leaders and Future Community Leaders.

Baker Tilly team members have been recognized every year since the program’s inception. Raina Rose Tagle, risk and internal audit consulting practice leader and partner, was named an Experienced Leader in 2013, and Katherine Wiernicki, regional assurance practice leader and partner, received the same honor in 2014. In 2015, Kimberly Ginn, partner, received the Community Leader award and Liisa Warden, senior manager, was recognized with the Emerging Leader award. In 2016, Colleen Wevodau, senior manager, received the Community Leader award and Colleen Lewis, manager, received the Future Community Leader award.

Massanova was recognized for her leadership development and community service at the PICPA’s Women’s Leadership Conference on May 10 at Penn State Great Valley in Malvern.
