CHICAGO (June 6, 2014) – Accounting and advisory firm Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP (Baker Tilly) has named 13 new partners, effective June 1, 2014.
Ann E. Blakely
Blakely is a member of the firm's business and technology consulting team and has been with the firm since 2004. Located in the Milwaukee office, she leads the human capital services practice which specializes in helping organizations determine the best ways to achieve improved business efficiency and deliver their most critical strategic talent initiatives through the use of technology. Blakely has experience in all aspects of human resources, talent management, HR transformation, HR technology and change management across a variety of industries, including healthcare, insurance, higher-education, not-for-profit, public and private sector. She is a member of the Project Management Institute’s Milwaukee chapter, and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in information systems analysis and design and management and human resources from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
Ben Wilhelm, CPA
Wilhelm is a member of the firm’s professional services practice and is located in the DC office. He has been with the firm for more than 14 years, performing financial statement audits, reviews, compilations, internal control reviews, and tax services. Wilhelm also has extensive experience performing employee benefit plan audits for a wide range of defined contribution and defined benefit plans. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from James Madison University.
Brad McGuire, CPA
McGuire joined the firm in 2012 and is based in the Janesville, Wis. office. With more than 25 years of strategic tax planning experience, he helps professional services and retail industry clients identify tax strategies that minimize the impact of taxes on their business profits and cash flow. McGuire previously served as a tax director at a national accounting firm and chief financial officer of a small private university. He holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Eastern Illinois University.
Brian P. Sanvidge, CIG, CFE
Sanvidge is a certified inspector general and is a leader of the business fraud and investigations department of the firm’s litigation and valuation consulting group. He is based in New York and brings more than 25 years of experience working with businesses on labor investigations, fraud investigations, disaster recovery and business continuity. Sanvidge is active in several industry associations, including the Association of Inspectors General, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and International Association of Independent Private Sector Inspectors General, and is a trustee to the Citizen Budget Commission. He has lectured nationally on labor law, business fraud, white collar crime and tax fraud, and regulatory compliance and government investigations for groups including the New York State Surrogate Bench as well as several bar associations. Sanvidge holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the State University of New York at Albany.
Chad R. Derenne, CPA
Derenne joined the firm in 2002 and is a member of the manufacturing and distribution team, based in the Appleton, Wis. office, and specializes in business and individual tax compliance, planning, and consulting. He works with businesses to implement tax saving strategies, including application of tax accounting methods, designing and implementing tax efficient entity structures, application of federal and state tax credits, and application of export incentives. Derenne holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and finance from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh and a Master of Science in taxation from Golden Gate University.
Chase A. Inda, CPA
Inda is based in the Madison, Wis. office and has been with the firm since 2006. He is a member of the firm’s construction and real estate services group and specializes in performing tax services for general contractors, subcontractors, real estate partnerships, and real estate developers. His experience includes New Market Tax Credits, real estate partnership experience including affordable housing tax returns with Low-Income Housing Tax Credits and special allocations of income/loss, minimum gain calculations and reporting for the first and last year of tax credits. Inda is involved in the Affordable Housing Association of Certified Public Accountants and received his Bachelor of Science in accounting from Edgewood College – Madison.
Christopher J. Tait
Tait has been with the firm since 2003 and is based in the Milwaukee office. He has more than fifteen years of experience providing technology related consulting and assurance services to financial institutions. Tait focuses on information technology auditing and risk management, IT assessments, IT operations management, IT strategy development, package systems selection and implementation, business process redesign and custom systems development in a wide variety of environments. He holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering and Master of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.
Jacque J. Lee, CPA, MBT
Lee is a member of the manufacturing and distribution services group and is based in our Minneapolis office. She has more than 15 years of experience in public accounting and specializes in corporate tax planning and compliance for small to mid-size businesses. Her experience includes managing IRS and state tax audits, providing FAS 109 tax consulting, and providing R&D tax credit consulting. Lee received her Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of St. Thomas and Master of Business Taxation from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.
Jeff K. Clayton
Clayton is a member of the firm’s government contractor advisory services practice and is based in the DC office. He has been with Baker Tilly since 2005 and has more than 16 years of industry and consulting experience in both government contracting and commercial environments, providing a broad range of pricing, contract compliance and dispute/litigation related services to government contractors and their legal counsel. Clayton is active in several industry associations, including the Coalition for Government Procurement, the American Bar Association, TechAmerica and the Professional Services Council. He also serves as vice president on the board of directors of HealthWorks for Northern Virginia. Clayton holds a Bachelor of Science in finance and management from Virginia Tech and an MBA from the University of Maryland.
Flickinger is a member of the firm’s government contractor advisory services practice and is based in the DC office. She has more than 20 years of experience providing a range of government contract cost accounting, pricing, internal control, regulatory compliance and litigation support services to her clients. Flickinger actively participates in several industry associations, including the National Defense Industrial Association; the American Bar Association Section of Public Contract Law, Accounting, Cost and Pricing Committee; and the Professional Services Council Labor Relations Committee. Flickinger earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of Maryland.
Jeremy J. Bivens, CPA, MST
Bivens has more than 13 years of experience providing tax and business advisory services to middle-market and large companies. Based in the firm’s Chicago office, he has extensive business advisory experience in areas including manufacturing and distribution, food and beverage, service companies, mergers and acquisitions, restructuring transactions, state and local tax credit opportunities, as well as overall business development assistance. Bivens holds a Bachelor of Arts in accounting from North Central College – Naperville and Master of Science in taxation from DePaul University.
Kimberly M. Shult, CPA
Shult is a member of the higher education/not-for-profit/governmental services group and has been with Baker Tilly since 1996, based in the Minneapolis office. She specializes in providing financial and single audits for governmental entities, colleges and universities, and not-for-profit organizations. Shult serves as a reviewer for the Government Finance Officers Association’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program. She is active in the Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce and has been a speaker for several industry conferences, including the Wisconsin Rural Water Association and the League of Wisconsin Municipalities Clerks, Treasurers and Finance Officers Institute. Shult holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire.

Engelstad is a member of the not-for-profit and governmental services group and has been with Baker Tilly since 2003, based in the Minneapolis office. He specializes in performing financial and compliance audits for not-for-profit and governmental entities, including educational institutions and municipalities. Engelstad is involved in several industry associations, including the Central Association of College and University Business Officers, National Association of College and University Business Officers, National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators and Government Finance Officers Association.
