Baker Tilly Grows Healthcare Consulting Practice to Include Community Health Needs Assessment Expertise

Baker Tilly brings community health expertise to healthcare providers.

CHICAGO (January 26, 2015) – Accounting and advisory firm Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP (Baker Tilly) recently hired Colleen Milligan to join their national healthcare consulting practice. Specializing in community health improvement planning, Milligan will lead the firm’s Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) team and other population health solutions.

Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), not-for-profit hospitals are required to conduct a CHNA every three years. Milligan has overseen projects with more than 60 hospitals and hundreds of their partners in communities across the country.  “Community Health Needs Assessments are a vital planning tool to guide community health improvement efforts, inform population health management initiatives, and ultimately direct strategic planning,” commented Milligan, “I am excited to be part of the Baker Tilly team. The firm brings a wealth of advisory and big data analytical expertise that will be instrumental in helping our clients integrate research findings in meaningful ways.”

“Colleen is a strong addition to our team and brings a wealth of experience,” said tax partner Julius Green, who oversees the firm’s CHNA efforts. “She emphasizes the value of a Community Health Needs Assessment beyond IRS compliance and is phenomenal at helping clients conduct assessments that bring value to their communities and strategic initiatives.”

Mark Ross, the firm’s healthcare practice leader added, “The addition of Colleen and our Community Health Needs Assessment services is a giant step in growing our healthcare consulting practice. The combination of the knowledge Colleen brings along with the already extensive list of value added solutions we bring to our clients is significant. These specialized services give our clients the strategic insight they need to meet their unique challenges.”

Milligan is based in the firm’s Lancaster office and brings sixteen years of experience in the health and human services field.
