Baker Tilly Elects Alan D. Whitman to Second Term as CEO

Re-election comes early in Whitman’s first term as CEO

CHICAGO (Feb. 9, 2018) – Leading accounting and advisory firm Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP (Baker Tilly) announces the election of Alan Whitman to a second three-year term as chief executive officer. The firm’s board of partners’ election and overwhelming ratification by its partnership comes early in Whitman’s first term as CEO.

“I am honored by the confidence and trust my fellow partners have placed in me," Whitman said. “I look forward to continuing our work together as we build our future today.”

Whitman’s vision and progressive leadership are guiding the firm’s culture of growth. With a focus on executing strategy, Whitman and his leadership team are doubling organic growth rates as advisory and specialized services expand.

“Growth is a critical ingredient of our culture. We grow to get better and we grow to make a difference,” Whitman said. “For our clients, growth brings more valuable solutions to help them thrive. And for our team members, growth provides a challenging and rewarding career centered on lifelong learning.”

As chairman and CEO of Baker Tilly, Whitman sets the pace for the firm’s success. With an emphasis on collaboration, Whitman brings people together to achieve ambitious goals. Under his leadership, Baker Tilly is making a notable difference in several areas, including:

Technology

Baker Tilly is using its own implementation of Robotic Process Automation (RPA), advanced analytics and machine learning to help clients embrace new technologies and gain efficiencies. From tax preparation to audits to customer experience mapping, Baker Tilly is applying automation across its firm to streamline processes and provide clients with even more valuable insight, not just analytics.

Engaging Workplace

Baker Tilly is fostering an environment of belonging. The firm’s Ideas in Action initiative encourages new ways of thinking, creating a workplace that fuels ideas big and small from team members. Baker Tilly is taking a holistic approach to diversity and inclusion by embedding those principles in all aspects of the business from strategy to operations. Whitman chairs the firm’s national diversity and inclusion steering committee. In 2017, based on feedback from team members, Baker Tilly was recertified as a great workplace by the Great Place to Work® organization.

Philanthropy

Whitman has been instrumental in expanding Baker Tilly’s philanthropic approach that combines firm-led initiatives with team member support for local causes. As one of Baker Tilly’s core values, stewardship is brought to life in each of the firm’s offices in any given week through organized community outreach led by team members. Baker Tilly’s annual Stewardship Day marks a single day of service where team members across the firm come together to serve their communities.

“Every one of our team members is invested in our momentum – and everyone plays a role in our success,” Whitman said. “It’s an exciting time at Baker Tilly.”
