Community college requires outsourced controller services

Our client’s need

A medium-sized community college with approximately 16,000 students needed a new controller. While recruiting for the position, and during the early phases of the onboarding process, the college required a finance professional with a high level of expertise to perform the position’s duties. The college’s needs included financial reporting, preparation of their Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, cost allocation assistance, state reporting, and reconciliation of complex bank transactions.

The Baker Tilly solution

Leveraging our firm’s significant expertise with governmental accounting, we tackled the college’s challenges one-by-one. To provide adequate coverage, we dedicated one of our top team members to the college for large blocks of time. Through regular meetings with college personnel, we ensured that our services met their expectations for quality, timeliness, and dedication to the project. Prior to the end of the project, we provided suggestions for process improvements and detailed notes to help onboard the new controller and other accounting personnel recently hired.

Results

Our specialists were able to complete all projects and reporting on time and with a high degree of accuracy to meet the needs of the college and its external auditors.
