Join us for a half day seminar of accounting, tax, regulatory and cybersecurity updates and best practices for insurance organizations.

Join Baker Tilly’s insurance specialists to gain professional insight into topics in accounting, tax, regulatory and cybersecurity that affect insurance organizations now and in the future. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about these trending topics impacting insurance companies, as well as the opportunity to network with their peers and subject matter specialists.

  • 9:30 – 10 a.m. | Registration
  • 10 – 11:50 a.m. | Morning sessions
    • Cybersecurity regulations update: Understand the new National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) rules, how they intersect with the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYS DFS) cybersecurity regulations and what your organization should do to prepare for compliance.
    • Regulatory update: Understand best practices, issue areas that companies stumble on and how to start making your examinations productive for your organization.
  • 11:50 a.m. – 12:40 p.m. | Lunch
  • 12:40 – 2:30 p.m. | Afternoon sessions
    • Tax update: Prepare your insurance organization in the uncertain tax environment, and understand tax reform to date and strategies you can take to mitigate uncertainty.
    • Accounting update: GAAP and Statutory: Understand the main issues and accounting changes that will affect your organization in the next two years.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about:

  • The recent changes in tax regulations and reform for insurance companies
  • The impacts from statutory accounting changes and U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) accounting changes
  • The current insurance regulatory environment, both national and international
  • How to identify cybersecurity threats and strategies to mitigate IT and cyber risk

  • Insurance industry professionals involved in accounting, tax, risk, internal audit, IT and transactional processes.

Information about CPE eligibility

There are no prerequisites for this event, and advance preparation is not required. There is no cost to attend this seminar.
